It's simple please allow to equip quiver on side of hips. It will be much accurate.
For example now you can turn around and start reload crossbow while pavise(shield) on your back. This was common in history.

0While i agree that it would be nice idea and yes its extremely simple to change... i think its done mostly from gameplay perspective to prevent people from having both a ranged weapon(bow/xbow) and a 2 handed weapon equiped at the same time.
The down side is that this also prevents you from being able to equip shield, one handed weapon, xbow and bolts at the same time which i think you should be able to.
Maby make a special case that if you have shield equiped you can then equip bolts to hip? and if you remove the shield or it gets broken then bolts are placed in you inventory/replace the broken shield on your back... or something similiar. -

And quivers were likely used manyways including both on hip and back... i have seen some "quivers on back are useless" videos, but those dont really prove anything. -

0if you read the ranged skill line carefully you will see that pavise deployment is already planed to be implemented
BUT if they try to do it the real life way moving with heavy wooden pavise at your back will be to slow unless it is a smaller lighter version = large shield--> not 100% arrow protection
+ in real life archer usualy where conscripted peasants that had to carry and deploy the pavise to protect more important soldiers
don't trust MTW
(ranged mercenary profesionals existed but usualy they were not used to deploy pavise when cheep skilless pesants were available) -

0Some archers did have quivers on there back. It is simply better for archers that stand firmly or their feet shooting very heavy bows. I agree that you should be able to put them on the hip, AND in the back. It is simply more realistic. Beside, there WERE mercenaries (germans I think) back in the day who would use crossbows with two handed swords and a kinda half plate armor. Heavy xbowmen basically. It would be great if you could reproduce this in game ! And yea, having a pavise in the back is also a thing : Some crossbowmen would even keep them on their back during the whole battle, so they could turn around while reloading, and be covered by their pavise shield
