From conception, Life is Feudal has strived to feature gameplay that is as realistic as possible in it’s medieval setting. Below are Life is Feudal’s most prominent realistic features.
No target combat system is a series of game mechanics centering around no lock-on combat. This means you will have to judge your sword swings, aim your arrows and time your lance thrusts. Life is Feudal also integrates physics based combat, so the speed and weight of weapons is important. For more info on this, visit Life is Feudal the action MMO RPG No target combat and double bars.
Full loot and death penalties are exactly as they sound. When you kill another player, you will be able to loot ALL of their equipment. The sword cuts both ways however, so if you die you will lose ALL of your items. There are multiple death penalties, but the two most serious are alignment loss for the attacker and skill loss for the victim. For more info on this, visit Death and Alignment in sandbox MMO game: Life is Feudal.
Realistic Aesthetics is the main direction for Life is Feudal’s art style. Unlike other new MMO games, there won’t be any suggestively revealing clothing with top tier stats. When you look at an item, you should be able to estimate it’s stats. The same goes for structures, meaning no floating fortresses or impossible underground cities. If a structure looks decayed and ruined, then that structure IS decayed and ruined.
Survival Mechanics are a set values that must be managed, otherwise you receive penalties or just plain die. The most prominent of these is hunger, and is managed by eating. If your character is starving, they will lose soft HP and eventually pass out. But if they are well fed they are fully alert and energized, gaining skill multipliers. More info on survival mechanics can be found at Survival mechanics of realistic MMORPG: Life is Feudal.
Continuity is the progression of time through a virtual worlds games. This subject is discussed in great length at Open, persistent virtual 3d worlds and what they entail, but I will summarise the most important point. In Life is Feudal, some RESOURCES ARE NONRENEWABLE! Ore never respawns, trees have to be grown and livestock must be bred.
